The Spin is In...

The spin number has been posted over at the Classics Club blog.  The lucky number was 20, which means I am going to be reading Their Eyes Were Watching God by Zora Neale Hurston, and I'm so excited!  I originally added it to my list as I wanted to read more African-American literature, and I still want to read it as much now as I did then.

The only slight disappointment is that I don't actually own a copy yet.  I've ordered one, but I will have to wait a few days before diving in.

If you took part, what book will you be reading for the spin, and are you happy about it?

  1. Can't wait to hear what you think of this one; I've never read it, but I've heard mixed reviews about it. Some love it, some don't.

  2. I LOVE this book. Love. I hope you like it. I've read it twice and that's a lot for me. I don't re-read very often. I actually read it for the Classics Club sync read last year.

  3. I read TEWWG 20 years ago and was blown away by it. I hope you enjoy it. I got The Professor's House which is a Willa Cather I never read so I am very pleased with #20,

  4. I'll be reading Middlemarch and will admit to being slightly daunted. Their Eyes Were Wathing God is wonderful, especially the audio version narrated by Ruby Dee.

  5. I'll be reading Their Eyes... in March, as well, as a combined choice for the Classics Club's February and March themes (Harlem Ren. and Virago lit,) so I'll be interested in your thoughts!

The Spin Number brought me a Raymond Carver collection. I'm looking forward to it and am crossing my fingers that the person ahead of me at the library returns it on time!

  6. This is on my larger CC list and I was thinking of reading it for the twelve months challenge although, sadly, I left my copy in Somerset. I hope you enjoy it and I look forward to your thoughts!

  7. I ADORE this book! Adore it. I've read it multiple times, which is unusual for me. The dialect was difficult at first, but it's broken up by a more standard-sounding narrative voice. I hope you like it! Let it wash over you! :)

  8. I'm not doing the spin, but I also really want to read this book. I have a copy of the edition you showed here and it's so pretty :) I really must read it soon!

  9. This is a fantastic book, I'm glad you got one you're excited about! I'll be reading Trumpeter of Krakow, which has been on my shelf ever since I went to Poland a few years ago.
