Sam Sunday #22

Just a quick update this weekend.  I'm feeling really run down as the end of term approaches and to be honest, I could curl up in a ball and hibernate for the next week or so!  I have a super busy week coming up too, with two late evenings at work for parents' evenings, a school production and a sports day. But on the positive side of things, it is my last full working week before the summer holidays finally arrive.

As you can tell from the photo, we braved decorating during the hot weather and now have a base coat on all the walls and ceiling of the main bedroom.  It's just white at the moment, but it looks so much better from having the plaster covered.  In the background, you can also see the shower that I've painted white from a tacky gold.  My husband finishes teaching for the summer earlier than me (he finishes on Thurs, me Weds week), so he's going to continue decorating whilst I'm still working.

I've had a fairly decent reading week, most of it has been taken up by Nathaniel Hawthorne's The Scarlet Letter.  Once I got past the awful introduction, I really enjoyed it!
How did last week treat you?

  1. I'm sure your house will look amazing! I always have so much respect for people who paint their own walls, I find it incredibly difficult.

I spent the week fighting the heat wave. I'm glad you're enjoying The Scarlett Letter, "man, he was slow" was the perfect description for the introduction I've evern read :D

  2. Oh, good for you! I hate painting, lol. And I'm planning on reading The Scarlett Letter soon too, so I'm glad to hear something positive about it for once!

  3. Oh well done you! Painting is awful so it's good to have the preliminaries done. Good luck with the rest of it!

  4. Gah, I detest painting. Seriously. You guys are doing a great job I'm sure and I hope you'll share some final pics with us!

It sounds like you need a vacation! Or at least a day to just zone out and relax. I hope you'll find time for that very soon :)

  5. I'm with everyone else, I hate painting. Good for you!

Rest up, take care of yourself and work on the house. We'll still be here.

  7. What a weekend! Nice painting! -- I do love how great walls look with a new coat of paint. Hope you get some rest this week. Had a busy weekend socializing -- which was lovely, but lots of cooking and cleaning -- so tiring. Looking forward to a quiet week!

  8. The Custom House introduction to The Scarlet Letter is SO FREAKIN' BAD. I think scads of students would have a better experience if it weren't for that section.

Glad your summer holidays are coming up soon!

  9. Oh I can't wait to see more photos of your house! It feels so good to invest so much work on your own house and then to sit back and watch the progress.

  10. We're painting this weekend, too! With the help of my mom and sister, we're hoping to knock out the living room, kitchen, and bathroom. I read The Scarlett Letter while sick in bed and was surprised by how much I enjoyed it. Someone had told me to skip the intro and so I read it last. That was some good book advice!
