It's even more impressive and more accomplished than her critically acclaimed first novel, Purple Hibiscus. "Half of a Yellow Sun" is an apt title, perhaps; but the novel is luminous like a full moon.

Highly recommended San Antonio Movers websiteAnonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00118707550077647899noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6637440206562155541.post-48942843262794553242011-02-27T01:42:53.007+00:002011-02-27T01:42:53.007+00:00I've been wanting to read this book for quite ...I've been wanting to read this book for quite some time. Some of the books that have been the most powerful reads and ones I would highly recommend (eg A Fine Balance by Rohinton Mistry) are ones I'm so glad I read because of what I learned from them, but are not ones I'd probably be able to stomach reading again - just too emotional.Danielle Zappavignahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10493099952285137131noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6637440206562155541.post-5840309651307385842011-02-13T15:11:02.862+00:002011-02-13T15:11:02.862+00:00Greg, I felt like the book was more shocking becau...Greg, I felt like the book was more shocking because I hadn't known about it. I recently read a non-fiction book called The State of Africa and it just described it as reprisals in a very detached tone, which didn't convey the horror of it at all.

Helen - Glad you enjoyed it too. I had read a little about Nigeria but nothing that conveyed the scale of the attacks.

JoAnn - Hope you do get to read it soon, it's well worth it.Sam (Tiny Library)https://www.blogger.com/profile/16375434438465319913noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6637440206562155541.post-35479885552440493382011-02-13T13:17:02.412+00:002011-02-13T13:17:02.412+00:00Great review!
