It depicts the hardships of growing up as a girl and woman at this time and place, for herself, her cousin, her mother and her aunt, and the restrictions and oppressions they face by the men in their family and society.

Luzia
Click HereLuzia Narvzhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17595945004895959572noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6637440206562155541.post-79296053052592842362016-06-08T08:35:34.512+01:002016-06-08T08:35:34.512+01:00Starts off a little slow, but the story line picks...Starts off a little slow, but the story line picks up. I like how the character evolves and how her perspectives change as her world opens up. Great insight into the lives of a culture where some grow up with 'privilege' and others are not as fortunate, but both have to overcome challenges. Classic case of 'things are not always as they seem', and 'the grass is not always greener on the other side'.

Mariz
Great data for Seattle Janitorial Services groupPenelope Sanchezhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03732383763497653346noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6637440206562155541.post-43820405091673436262015-04-05T09:38:18.239+01:002015-04-05T09:38:18.239+01:00There's a good twist and the ending is unexpec...There's a good twist and the ending is unexpected and heartbreaking, as well as inconclusive enough to leave you desperate for a sequel. This is certainly the best book I've read this year. Fans of Chimamanda Ngozi Adiche (Half of A Yellow Sun, Purple Hibiscus) will enjoy this book as the two authors have a similar style. If you haven't read either, do try them - I can't imagine you'll be disappointed.

Mica
AC Repair Richardson information
Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00118707550077647899noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6637440206562155541.post-75165581704819001862015-03-03T09:26:53.551+00:002015-03-03T09:26:53.551+00:00Wonderful review, Sam.
